Antiope (Tobie) Loomis-Executive Director

is a storyteller, an award-winning writer/director/producer with a focus on social issues ranging from women’s rights, immigration and veterans with PTSD to voting rights. She works in multiple mediums, creating short films, documentaries, theatre, and PSA campaigns. Her work expands to include executive leadership roles as co-chair of the Emmy Award winning Women in Film, Production Program (2003-’13) and in 2012, as the Director of GlobalGirl Media-Chicago where she continues to mentor and promote the voice and stories of young women from underserved communities.

In 2018 Loomis produced a timely immigrant drama and one-woman show, Nick The Greek, which had its showcase premiere at The Greenhouse Theatre in Chicago.
Loomis has recently completed her collaboration with Varda Bar-Kar as a producer for the HBO feature documentary, Fandango At The Wall.

Antiope is first generation Greek Canadian and American and considers herself a global citizen. She’s worked and lived in three countries and continues to search for, create and promote initiatives and stories, which connects us to our shared humanity.

Cebe Loomis-CURRENT Program Manager & Instructor

is a practicing visual artist and social documentarian, currently based in Chicago, Illinois. Loomis received her BA in Anthropology from Vassar College and her MFA in Social Documentation from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Specializing in the photographic essay, Loomis' research interests include practices of place-making, cultural geography, collective memory formation and visual anthropology. Loomis most recently completed Tailings, a self-published book and ethnographic photography essay that explores the silver-mining boomtown of Virginia City, Nevada. Loomis has been making photographs for the past ten years and through the use of analogue photography, creates colorful, intimate and methodical bodies of work exploring themes of belonging, history and home.

Elena Wilson-volunteer, Mentor, & previous Program Manager & Instructor

Elena Wilson is a born and raised Chicagoan currently studying journalism and Japanese studies at the University of Missouri. She specializes in written journalism and has worked for several publications across Chicago and Columbia, Missouri. Elena is a GlobalGirl Media-Chicago and After School Matters alum. In the summer of 2022, she served as an intern for GlobalGirl Media-Chicago and now is the current the Program Manager & Instructor. Outside of GGM-Chicago, Elena is a media assistant at the Columbia Missourian and a News Intern for Envi Media.

Anika Exum-volunteer, Mentor, & previous Program Manager & instructor

is a multimedia journalist currently working as a staff reporter for The Tennessean, a Gannett/USA Today newspaper based in Nashville, Tennessee. She moved to Nashville from Chicago in January 2021 after completing her master of science in journalism at Northwestern University's Medill School and a video production fellowship with TIME, all in 2020.

From 2018 to 2021 Anika served a Program Manager and Instructor for GlobalGirl Media-Chicago, leading facilitation and design of in-person and virtual programming, recruitment of college interns and teen participants, as well as website creation and management. Although she's since left this role, she continues to stay connected as a mentor with many past GGM-Chicago participants and alumni.

Anika graduated from Cornell University in 2018, earning a bachelor of science in communication and inequality studies.
